What is collected

• Contact form submissions: name, email address, and message.

The retired visitor map

Until August 2026 this site had a public visitor map where readers could drop a pin. That feature has been removed. While it operated, a pin submission stored a city, country, map coordinates, an optional display name, a timestamp, and a session identifier generated by your browser; short-lived IP records were kept only to rate-limit submissions.

The historical pin data remains retained in a private database that is no longer publicly accessible — the API that served it has been disabled. It is kept only so the map could someday return with its pins intact. If you dropped a pin and want it deleted, email me and it will be removed.

Legal basis

Contact form data is collected based on your consent when you choose to submit the form. Analytics data is collected under legitimate interest, as Cloudflare Web Analytics is cookieless and does not identify individual visitors. You may withdraw consent for contact data at any time by requesting deletion.

Analytics

This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics for aggregated traffic insights. It is cookieless, does not collect personal data or IP addresses, and does not track visitors across sites. No ad trackers or third-party advertising scripts are used.

Browser storage

This site uses your browser's local storage (not cookies) for two purposes:

• Remembering your light or dark theme preference. This stays in your browser.

The retired visitor map also stored a session identifier in local storage; it was sent with pin submissions to prevent duplicates. Nothing uses it anymore, and you can clear it (and the theme preference) at any time through your browser settings.

Third-party services

• Web3Forms processes contact form submissions and delivers them via email.
• Cloudflare Turnstile protects the contact form from automated submissions. When that page loads, your browser makes requests to Cloudflare servers.
• Cloudflare hosts this site and provides cookieless analytics.

No data is sold or shared with third parties for advertising purposes.

Data retention

Contact form submissions are retained for as long as needed to respond to your message and are deleted afterward. Pins from the retired visitor map are retained in a private, non-public database as described above. You may request removal of either at any time.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights and requests

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data associated with you. To make a request, use the contact form and include the relevant details.

This policy may be updated from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
